Brendon De Haan CPA, CA
Partner

Brendon graduated from the University of Alberta in 2011 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After graduation, Brendon joined a traditional public accounting firm in January 2012.

Brendon began working towards his Chartered Accountant designation to become a Chartered Accountant in 2014. He progressed to Manager of the firm’s audit department where he worked with staff and students to deliver assurance services to the firm’s clients. In 2018, Brendon left his position and co-founded Breakaway Chartered Professional Accountants LLP.

Brendon's areas of expertise are focused on the review and audit of small to medium sized, privately-owned businesses as well as non-profit organizations. 

Away from the office, Brendon eats, sleeps and breathes sports. Just don’t bring up the 2017 Super Bowl. Ever.

Mark Steier CPA, CMA
Partner

A third-generation entrepreneur, Mark graduated from the Applied Bachelor of Business Administration program at NAIT with honors in December 2009. He worked as an assistant bookkeeper for his family-founded home service business, Pro Solutions Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.  

Mark joined a traditional public accounting firm in January 2010 as an accounting student and immediately entered the Certified Management Accountant’s Strategic Leadership program. In August 2012, Mark was awarded the CMA designation and continued to progress to the position of Manager until he co-founded Breakaway Chartered Professional Accountants LLP in 2018.  

Mark’s areas of expertise are focused around personal and corporate tax, trust taxation and compliance, as well as strategic tax planning and financial management for individuals and small to medium-sized, privately-held businesses.  

When he’s not whipping up mind-blowing spreadsheets, Mark’s passion is music. He’s a singer and a guitarist, and you can catch his band performing regularly in and around the Edmonton area.
